Due to the almost complete lack of certain elements for the absolute dating of the
monuments, the analysis of the weapons and jewels
typology is the only mean for establishing a cronology of the stelae-statues.
In practice, the shapes and the details of the weapons represented on the statues can be related to those of the corresponding
objects found in the archaeological excavations within the Italian prehistoric caves and burials for which an absolute dating was
determined.
On the basis of the morphological relationships, it is possible to hypothesize that a given monument was built
in the same period when the corresponding object was used.
