BIGLIOLO Aulla (MS)
This was found in May 1975
in the locality of Belvedere. Unfortunately, the excavator who disinterred it
gravely damaged an Etruscan inscription on the breast, interpreted as the word
vemetuvis.
The stelae-statue is whole and the head is clearly distinct from the body. The
face, clearly delineated, has large eyes, a nose, a mouth, and even, the ears.
From the clavicular axis extend the arms, which like the hands, are modeled with
anatomical correctness.
Like almost all the others belonging to group C, it has an axe with a
quadrangular blade, and a cingulum, i.e. a belt around the waist.
Below, in the center, is engraved a small inverted triangle that appears to
represent a loincloth.
