Chiesa
del Santo Sepolcro
Already existing in 1113, it
was founded by the Ospitalieri of San Giovanni from Jerusalem. On a
plaque on the bell tower is written: Deustesalvet (God saves you),
architect of the baptistery, maker of the building. The octagonal
structure has been surrounded by a Cinquecento porch since the XIX
century; the central raised tambour is covered by a pyramidal spire. The
portals have phytomorph and marble lion head decorations. The interior
furnishings, restored in the Baroque style in 1720, was destroyed in the
XIX century. The reliquary-bust of Santa Ubaldesca (XV century) with the
bucket supposedly belonging to the saint and a XV century painting on
wood of the "Virgin with Child" are kept inside. |
