Chiesa
di San Pietro in Vinculis (San Pierino)
It was built by the
Augustinians between 1072 and 1118 on a pre-existing church. The
parsonage for the regular clerics is from a little later. The structure,
linked to the Pisan model spread by Buscheto, has an apsidal nave and
two aisles, with saddle roof, and shows from the outside pilasters,
blind arches, round windows and lozenges on the side, alternating with
monofore. The façade has three portals and windows with two lights. The
interior has an inlaid floor raised on a crypt with cross vaults and
Roman capitals, probably rhw remains of an ancient loggia for merchants
and later on a Christian temple. Inside, can be found a Roman
sarcophagus, remains of frescoes and a "Crucifix" on wood from
the XIII century. The parsonage keeps frescoes from the XIII and the XV
centuries and stuccoes from the XVIII century. |
