The
twinning pact between Pisa and Unna dates back to the 1996. The German
town, seat of the provincial administrative district, rises on the
banks of the Hellweg river and constitutes a crucial point of the
traffic in the Westfalia region. The historical events and the
geographic position have given a lively and dynamic appearance to
Unna. The principal resources of the town are agriculture, the mining activity and blooming industries. The
historical centre is characterized by a continuos alternation of
ancient and modern houses , wide green areas and big industrial
companies, shops and peace oasis in the full town centre. A
particular vocation of Unna is the attention to the past: the
anecdotes concerning episodes and personalities of the past are
collected in a book entitled "Vertellkes".
