The Associazione Casa della Donna (roughly "Women’s Meeting
House"), aims at promoting and spreading women’s culture,
through the thought and work of the many groups of women members
who convene and work in the House. At present, the subjects
of interest of the various groups include, among others: Women
Writers, the History of the Women’s Movement, Women in Black,
Women and Work, Women and New Technology.
The Association provides, on an entirely voluntary basis,
free services to women, namely: a specialized Women’s Library;
two telephone Help Lines ("Telefono Donna"–"Women’s
Help-Line", no. ++39+50561628; and "Help Adolescenti",
no. ++39+50830334, for younger women seeking help, and for
their families); an Internet point; courses of Italian
language for immigrant women. The Association also runs
a Shelter for Abused Women; a group of professional
women members work in close connection with the Help Lines,
providing free counselling and legal advice.
